Space Disco

Yes space disco. Not spacesynth but a completely unrelated genre.
Was quite popular in the late 70's during the disco period and the release of the star wars movie saw the emergence of this genre.

In the late 1970s, a fashionable trend in music appeared, which was called "Space Disco". This subgenre arose due to the synthesis of popular disco music and science fiction from cinema and literature. The new direction quickly gained popularity in Europe & the Soviet Union and soon easily crossed the ocean to French-speaking Canada, where it enjoyed overwhelming success. One of the most interesting works of that time is the studio duet Space Project of 2 Canadian musicians from Quebec city named Dominique Cicente & Michel Degle. They wrote all the arrangements and acted as producers of their album. Dominic and Michel managed to release two singles and an album, which was called "Conquest Of The Stars" (in the USA it was published under the name "Disco From Another Galaxy"). "Conquest Of The Stars" is the only album of this disco duo Space Project, released in 1978 on RCA Victor in Canada and the USA. This is one of the brightest examples of Space Disco music of the late 1970s. There are four compositions recorded on the longplay, similar in form to disco suites. These instrumental pieces will take you back to the very end of the 1970s, to that wonderful era when the grass was greener & the sun shone brighter, so let's dive into it and listen to the tracks of such an original Canadian project! Fantasound is the fifth full length album from Slovenian Space Disco producer Ichisan. This debut LP on international label Discolypso follows recent singles Harmona & Margit Mono. His music is Space Disco Pop Bliss - swooshing synths collide with pulsing rhythms & twinkling melodies, creating a kaleidoscopic Universe of pure joy. Fantasound is a symphony of Disco and Italo, Spacesynth waves and a happy-go-lucky driving rhythms. A sound that doesn't exist in the real world, the Fantasound is very much alive and in our mind during our happiest moments. After teasing with several EPs, Ichisan blesses the world via Discolypso with the full Fantasound, an immersive ecstatic experience filled with twists and turns that will keep you on your Tip Top toes.
The artist explains the process: "The album was recorded during the 2020 lockdown period. In those long uncertain days I watched all kinds of movies and rediscovered the ‘1940 Fantasiaʼ with my 3-year old son. I started researching the story behind the production of the animated musical film and especially the sound production of Fantasia. Fantasound was a stereophonic sound reproduction system developed by engineers of Walt Disney and RCA. That is how I found the album title. After the album was recorded I knew that the artwork must be related to Fantasia. I always had ‘The Sorcererʼs Apprenticeʼ in my mind as an inspiration for the album artwork. Mickey Mouseʼs dreams in the dark-blue space and Fantasia poster logo were guidelines. The illustrator Meta Wraber delivered the fantastic artwork in her signature watercolour technique".
