Collaboration

Post by Neospace »

So… tell me, do you like to collaborate with other producers? Or do you want full control and do everything yourself?

For me: I don’t like collaborating with other producers because it always felt like a concession between two opinions, and therefore could never be my best work.

I do like making remixes for other producers (when I have spare time) because then I can do whatever I want.

What are your opinions about this?

I have done collaborations before. I have mixed feelings about the process. One of you will emerge as the dominant composer/producer. You might feel that the other isn’t contributing enough at the required level or quality. There is also the continuous back and forth (via email, Dropbox etc) which can hinder the process. I have a great relationship with my VCF troopers writing partner. We’ve been mates since school. We are both into the same things and know each others thoughts and opinions before we even speak. He can write/compose a lot quicker than I can. I can producer better than he can. It’s a good balance. He has a large pool of unpublished music that I can select, contribute to and develop. He just sends me midi files of the parts. It works. All VCF Troopers tracks that you have heard so far has been a fairly even 50/50 split for composition. 100% produced by me.

I never do not collaborated with other producers. Although there was such a case, but no one track, made by me and other producers together not finished and don't was released. For example i'm with Andrey Zhitnev (Ray Orion) tried it's make, but not brought to end. So collaboration about i'm not know nothing. But i'm not against make collaboration. For you door is open.

I have made a track with my very good friend, Daniel Borowiec (Cyberman), under the name Asteryon. It was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. It was a dream that came true. I've learned many techniques while we were making the track, which helped me improve my songs too. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time for another composition.... I can say that I enjoyed every single second of the process and I'd definitely do that again if I had the chance with him or with any other artist. It would be my pleasure :) .

Shall we play a game. Somebody start something off. Could be a bassline or a set of chords then send that midi to someone else. They add to it then they send it to someone else. They add to it etc Could be fun.

I just read it and I can say it's a very very interesting idea. Just imagine one song with 7-8 (at least) styles of melodies 98459684378

If we can get one more person interested then I'm in. A three way collab could be just as interesting.
