Here is my short review of the new Moondance album.
First some words about the music then some about the production (but i'm not a professional and just started producing myself so no expert opinion). Finally a few words about each track.
The music:
A very nice spacesynth album which brings me back to the first Laserdance albums which is a compliment!
Lot's of energetic songs and good use of the now famous spacesynth type sounds.
I listened to the album while doing some running which it fits perfectly!
Production:
The album has a nice wide and energetic sound.
Personally i would use less reverb on the snare and synth sounds as (for me) it is a little bit tiresome to my ears.
Maybe put the vocoders more in the front of the mix, they are really nice and deserve a good spot.
1. Fall Back To Station
Nice start of the album, a "Battlestar Galactica" sample i think? Very cool sample it fit's the song and isn't the usual male or robotic sample.
Nice chords and nice melody, all spacesynth type sounds and techniques present in this song.
2. Analogue Minds
Lot's of enery in this song, the main melody is very nice and one of my favorites on this album.
3. Futurekids
This one gives me a bit of a Power Run feeling (the synth stabs in the beginning).
4. Sonic Dance
Good use of different sounds and melodies, nice samples!
5. Abyss Of Time
Starts of a bit like Koto's time but quickly get's its own theme.
Like Analogue Minds one of my favorite tracks!
6. Snowy Roofs
Who can resist the ESQ Wavbell sound
, very nice and offcourse some M1 doo's and duh's.
7. Secret World
A Koto like track, the effect on the snare drum is a bit too much for me.
Some of the melodies and chords are a bit on the edge (harmonic clash) but that give's the song a bit of a different edge.
8. Winds of Tomorrow
I really like the melodies in this one! , very nicely done!
9. Cybertron
The chords/stabs sound famiiar to Winds Of Tomorrow but still manage to create a new song. Oh and those Horny Licks
Nice vocoders too!
10. Million Of Stars
Yeah a nice slow (Ambiente like) track!
Nice, very relaxing.
