Mixing bassline and kick

Personally, I don't like using sidechain to expose my kick. To improve the bass and kick
separation I use the mixer track delay for the bass track. Usually it is a value in the range of 28 to 30 ms.
The icon marked in blue (in FL Studio) ...
I suppose other DAWs have this option as well.
Have you tried this yet?

Personally I like a very strict timing. I am still learning to make better mixes, but I have learned that every sound should have it’s space in a mix.

My tip: The Trackspacer plugin is a very helpful tool to create the space you need.

Trackspacer is cool. So quick to work with. I also use Smart:comp from Sonible if I want more options.
