German Shlandikov.jpg

In my life, it so happens that any spontaneous meeting goes better than the planned one. Even in the afternoon, I did not know that in the evening we would discuss sound, technology and music in the company of German Shlandikov (Oblivion). He is the developer and manufacturer of acoustics, custom vinyl players, the author of the design of compact cassettes, composer and musician.

Listening to my equipment smoothly turned into a discussion of music and musicians.

I learned a lot about the life of the SpaceSynth style musicians. About their communication with each other and with the founding fathers of the style, Didier Marouani, the leader of the Space band, Erik van Vliet, Michiel van der Kuy from the Laserdance group. We listened to a lot of music by Russian musicians, and most importantly, I almost attended Oblivion's home concert. German told about the creation of the compositions currently playing, what prompted him to do it, what meaning was attached, while playing with his fingers on a virtual keyboard in time with the keyboard parts. There was a conversation about the technical side of writing music and getting the right sound. Fortunately, on my system, you can easily hear the nuances of the sound of each composition.

The music played until the moment when its sounds could trigger the battery-powered percussionism of the neighbors. German will stay in Moscow for some time and we will still have a chance to meet with him again, hopefully in the company of Andrey Pontus, and perhaps someone else who wants to join us.
