About Dreamtime Project

Dreamtime is one of the Spacesynth-style projects founded by Lauri Turjansalo in 2003. He began his musical journey back in the 90s, using tracker programs, in particular, the legendary "Triton" series - Fasttracker 2. Actually, it all started when Lauri heard the music of "LaserDance", which made an indelible impression on him. From that moment on, the future musician became active on the Internet and was a regular visitor to Spacesynth forums.
In addition to the original compositions, the musician also created many remixes and musical demoscenes for computer games (this is how the pseudonym "Cirdan" appeared, under which this material was recorded). In 2000, Lauri began experimenting with MIDI and synthesizers. Gradually, he began to create his own studio in order to move to a more professional level in musical activity.
Years of experimenting with music in a limited "tracker" environment and an updated studio allowed Lauri to move on and create a more dynamic sound. This is how the Dreamtime project was created. The music of this project is focused exclusively on the Spacesynth style, with the idea of giving it an accent of dreamy, romantic coloring. But at the same time, it retains an attractive melodic pressure without deviating from the style.
The first track released on behalf of Dreamtime was called "Purple Twilight". He received a lot of positive feedback. This subsequently had a final impact on the formation of the project's music, and it began to develop step by step. Since 2003, Lauri has released his music for various labels. For example, the musician presented several of his tracks to Hypersound Productions. As a result, in 2004-2006 they were published on the collections "Synthesizer Dance".
In 2005, the next track "Before the Dawn" won the music contest of the web site Spacesynth.de and was, two years later, released in a compilation on CD by Audioenergy Music Productions. Later, new tracks of the musician were regularly uploaded for free download and a CD was compiled.
Despite the fact that Dreamtime music is secluded in a digital environment, it is close in sound to analog sources. Nostalgia for the synthesizer sounds of the 80s is heard in most tracks, but at the same time it keeps the listener in constant anticipation of new ideas. In addition, the influence of classical rhythms is felt, along with the new wave direction, however, as well as other electronic music genres. Stylistically, the background component of Dreamtime music is deceptive - it's not Italo Disco.
In 2007, the musician was approached by representatives of Space Sound Records with a request to make a remix for their CD project. The label's enthusiastic idea of using its genre subsequently convinced Lauri. The future cooperation was soon and resolutely. And the results, again, were not long in coming. A year later, two whole CD projects were released on Space Sound Records, however, in MP3 format, and a year later - the collection "The Best of Spacesound Records" and, most importantly, the first release of the Dreamtime project was released as a full-length CD called "Farout".
Outside of Dreamtime, Lauri writes music in other electronic styles and creates sound for video and multimedia products. Here is a short list of musical artists who, according to the musician, influenced him: Global Communication, Ozric Tentacles, Shpongle, Paul Lawler (aka Arcane, Max van Richter), Iron Maiden, Angelo Badalamenti, Jerry Goldsmith, Air, Mark Shreeve, Chris Hulsbeck, John Carpenter, Klaus Schulze, Vince DiCola, Depeche Mode and all the wonderful Spacesynth music, starting from the 80s and ending with unknown future talents.
Lauri Turjansalo is also one of the founders of the website Spacesynth.net and a frequent visitor. This is a place where performers and their fans can meet, chat, post music and ideas. A team of administrators has launched this website since 2005, and it has become a haven for many fans of Spacesynth style all over the world.
According to Lauri, the theme and inspiration for the new composition come to him from outer space and inner space, from visions of the past and the future, as well as from anything with a strong visual aspect from films to art.
