Sound Synthesis - Unification Of Harmony (released on 12.07.2024) Description: "Distant Worlds label welcomes back Sound Synthesis for a second outing of warm, melodic electro. The longstanding producer commands stark attention with his unique blend of snappy drums, unaffected synth sequencings, ample headroom ekes, all of which combine to reveal an increasing, slow-burning sophistications as the tracks develop. "Unification Of Harmony" refuses to prepare us for its Sci-fi bass-contrapuntal gut-punch of emotion occurring after its breakdown, while track "Dear Ballacid" gets generative with things, utilising wompy Reeses and rattling, randomised topper elements"
Tracklist: 01. Unification Exploration
02. Be Humble
03. Unification Of Harmony
04. Dear Ballacid

BVSMV - Other Landscapes, Vol. 1 (released on 14.08.2024) Message on Bandcamp: "Jack of All Trades Bryan Kraft treats us to a lovely little record of dreamscapes. Taking us through fantastic realms hitherto unimagined outside of the astral plane, in glorious ambient musical mastery. This time around though, on his new record "Other Landscapes", things are a little more ambient flavoured. Glowing cityscapes give way to vastness, as alluded to by the title of the project. Deserts and some rolling hills. Kraft has stepped out the city and into the countryside for a more pastoral musical affair. Don't worry, the sheep still shoot laser-beams out their eye".
Descriptions of all tracks from this long-play:
► Show Spoiler
To describe the opener, "Kaleidoscope Eyes" in a single word, 'meditative seems appropriate'. Though let's try a little harder than that. The chords are lengthy & floaty, like uncomplicated clouds drifting smoothly through a sea of serenity. In a world where Kaleidoscope Eyes blasts from heavens above, everyone is calm.
It's impossible for the mind not to conjure dreamlike images when listening to the playful shimmers and dancing keys of "Revisiting Places We Have Never Been". It's right there in the title after all. You ever dream the same location more than once? It's so weird huh? Well Kraft here captures that feeling and translates it in part from 'weird' to pretty, expertly as ever, and builds an atmosphere that sounds both hopeful and intangible.
"Other Landscapes" continues to build on the dreamlike structure put forward on RPWHNB (that's an acronym for the previous track, not BVSMV's sibling). This time, a greater emphasis on rhythmic bell patterns gives a greater sense of forward momentum, despite the lack of percussion. A truly gorgeous piece of music. Followed by 'And Waves of Dreams', a shorter excursion with bolder arpeggios that somehow sounds more subdued than what came before. It's somehow more dynamic yet calmer. Figure that one out. Or just listen and enjoy it like a normal person.
"At Dawn" on the other hand is decidedly more direct. Like brilliant sunbeams, keys cascade from over the horizon, painting the green pastures in a kaleidoscope of colour, shiny and bright, heavenly and with purpose.
Immediately upon hearing "More Than I Ever Could Have Imagined", it's 'hello melancholy'. This is not a word typically associated with Kraft's music. Don't get me wrong, he's not typically out here making over the top smile-or-I-shoot-you pop hits; they tend to be either beautiful ambient pieces or slick Synthwave bangers. This one on the other hand is heavy. Don't get me wrong, he isn't scoring Saving Private Ryan here, but there's some palpable pathos being brought to the proceedings here, and the results are rather breathtaking.
Finally we come to the closer, "The Future Ahead". It sounds like a darkened landscape slowly being illuminated by various coloured light sources. Fairies, Will-o-wisps... I don't know... gnomes? All of them casting shimmering spells that turn night into day, in an eerie phantasmic array of glowing hemispheres. Revealing the contours of the land, the gnarled spiralling tree roots, the impossibly high and twisted tree tops, a landscape you have visited in a dream, that Kraft has, unbeknownst to you, found a way to soundtrack.
BVSMV records never disappoint, and this latest ambient excursion is no exception. The "Other Landscapes" promised in the title and painted vividly in your minds eye by Kraft (how'd he get in there??), all that remains is to close your eyes and float comfortably through them for a while, taking in their dreamy majesty. Also hey! This is volume one! So look forward to the sequel!

CARLIGHTS & Aliff850 - Cosmic Romance 1985 (EP) [released on 27.09.2024] I'd like to note once again that I am always curious to listen to "spacey" music performed by composers who aren't related to Spacesynth. This mini-album was also no exception, I posted it here almost "with my eyes closed", because I was sure that it is really great. And after listening to it, I was convinced in the correctness of my decision, because there truly is something unearthly in its sound! I hope you will see this soon!

Timecop1983 - Metropolis EP (released on 26.09.2024) This mini-album was produced & Mixed by Timecop1983. Lifeline produced and mixed by Timecop1983 & Josh Dally. Mastered by Tonebox
The description from project's Bandcamp account:
► Show Spoiler
Amara wandered through the neon-lit streets of the sprawling megacity, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and awe. The towering skyscrapers, their surfaces alive with holographic advertisements, seemed to close in around her as she navigated the maze of unfamiliar alleyways. Every turn revealed a new world—robots scurrying with purpose, people in sleek attire moving in fluid patterns, and the distant hum of drones patrolling the skies. Her small handheld device, once her lifeline in this chaotic metropolis, flickered and died, leaving her truly alone in the vast, pulsating city.
As she walked, the streets began to blur together, each one indistinguishable from the last. The city's rhythm, a pulse that seemed to sync with her own heartbeat, drew her deeper into its labyrinth. And her hope of finding a familiar landmark faded with each step, replaced by a growing sense of wonder. The city, for all its overwhelming scale, felt strangely alive, as if it were guiding her, whispering secrets in the hum of its machinery. So as night fell, Amara realized that she was not just lost in the city; she was becoming a part of it.

Runaway Droid - Coast To Coast (released on 18.10.2024) This is a Finnish electronic music producer based in Dublin, Ireland. Synthwave and Retro Electro vibes for the love of 1980's hit music. With occasional Cyberpunk action! This album turned out to be very energetic, and in some places it even reminded me of the Lightracer project made by Saul Tyni. You know, it's like it was specially created for parties in the twilight of a big city filled with neon lights! Super!

Tau Ceti - Hyperion (released on 02.11.2024) So, it's time to post here another issue from my truly esteemed musician Thomas (Tau Ceti)! I must say right away that when I received the notification from Bandcamp that this EP was released, I almost burst into tears, because neither Andre Tanneberger (ATB) nor Anton Eriksson (Spacehawk) were able to please me with new albums this year, which has already become quite difficult. And now, for some reason, I think that 2024 was also not simple for Thomas, but despite this, he turned out to be able to give me some great new tracks. Judging by the sound of the mini-album, its general mood can be titled as "From darkness to light"! And if the first creation is dominated mainly by dark notes with periodic "flashes" of light, then in subsequent compositions there are more & more "radiant" melodies. Well, in the last piece there are chords that give it a kind of "fabulousness", and I even want to get lost in fantasy Worlds-labyrinths, sincerely admiring & adoring them, and never come back from there! So I cordially thank Tau Ceti for this release, which managed to embellish not the best year in my life, and today I solemnly announce here to you that now I consider him the most respected performer in my history! I wish him good health, lots of fresh producer's ideas and conquering the highest peaks!
